What leaningtowerpisa.org is
Leaningtowerpisa.org is an online guide devoted to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Piazza dei Miracoli. It explains how tickets work, the opening times, the rules for children and what else to see nearby. It isn't the site of the body that runs the Tower, and it doesn't hide the fact: a banner at the top of the page says it is an independent travel guide from SV Travel Media LLC, that it isn't the official site and that it earns commissions.
That detail matters. Not every site with a similar name is this clear, and some people search for "Leaning Tower of Pisa tickets" and pay a reseller believing they are on the Opera's site. Here the warning is there, and you see it straight away.
A site like this one
It should be said plainly: leaningtowerpisa.org is the same kind of site as the one you are reading. tickets.toscana.it is also an independent guide, not the site of a museum or an official body. So we judge it by the same criteria we apply to ourselves: does it say who it is? Does it say how it earns money? Does it show official prices alongside the platforms' prices? Does it tell you when it's better to buy at the source?
On the first three points leaningtowerpisa.org did well at our last check. On the fourth, like almost every affiliate site, it mostly pushes you towards the paid links.
What it offers
The site sells nothing directly and has no checkout. Its booking buttons lead:
- mainly to GetYourGuide, including the Tower + Duomo ticket, which is one of the most reviewed there;
- to Viator, Tripadvisor's marketplace, where every product comes from a third-party supplier;
- to Tiqets, on the page devoted to tickets.
The official prices the site quotes are right: €20 for the Tower with the Duomo and €27 for the full ticket with all the monuments. That can't be taken for granted: old figures are still circulating online.
The domain appears to have been registered, or re-registered, recently. That isn't a flaw in itself, but it means there is no long track record from which to judge how well the site is updated when the rules change.
The official ticket, for comparison

Online payment on the official site is sometimes suspended: in that case the resellers are the alternative. The same applies when the official slots for the day you need are sold out.

At our last check the Tiqets ticket, at €25, could be neither refunded nor changed. On GetYourGuide the basic rule is a refund up to 24 hours before, unless the listing says otherwise: read it before you pay. None of these is "the official ticket", even when the product name suggests it.
How to use it without paying more
The sensible way to use leaningtowerpisa.org, or this guide, takes three steps:
- read the rules and choose the ticket you need (with or without the Tower, and at what time);
- open opapisa.it and look for that slot on your date;
- only if there is no space, or if payment is suspended, go back to a reseller and pick the one with the most flexible cancellation.
For a family with children under 8 the reasoning changes: the Tower is ruled out, the adults take the €11 ticket for the other monuments, and accompanied children under 11 get in free. All of it directly from the Opera.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
It suits you if you want a clear summary of the Tower's rules before you buy. The writing is aimed at first-time visitors and the official prices are correct.
The 3 out of 5 rewards its transparency and its correct official prices; the young domain, a name easily mistaken for the official body's and links that nearly always lead you to pay more take away the rest.
It doesn't suit you as a place to buy, if you can buy from the Opera. There you spend €20, you can change the time up to 2 hours before and you receive the PDF that the Opera considers valid. The site's links, by contrast, lead you to pay a few euros more, for a service you only need if the official channel is sold out or suspended.
Watch out for similar names. Leaningtowerpisa.org is honest about who it is. Other sites with almost identical names, such as pisatowertickets.com or leaningtowerofpisa-guide.com, are not run by the Opera. If in doubt, type opapisa.it by hand.
