Who runs the Terme di Saturnia
Terme di Saturnia is a joint-stock company (S.p.A.) based in Saturnia, in the municipality of Manciano, in the province of Grosseto. According to press reports it belongs to the Terme & Spa Italia group, which also owns the baths at Chianciano. The complex has four parts: a five-star resort, the Parco Termale, the Club and a spa and medical centre, plus a golf course.
This review focuses on day tickets, sold on the Day Spa website, since that is what most visitors are looking for. Be careful: the price list still published on the long-standing termedisaturnia.it website is old and shows prices that no longer apply.

The Parco Termale is an area of about 20,000 m² with five outdoor pools, a sauna, vascular walkways and whirlpools: well suited to families and to anyone who wants to spend the day between the water and a sunbed.
The Club is the quieter part, designed for adults. It is the only area with access to the natural spring, the thermal lake at about 37.5 °C, as well as the relaxation rooms and the Finnish sauna. On Friday evenings there is also the Notturno Club, from 20:30 to 23:30, from €50.
The point to grasp before you pay: if you have come all the way to Saturnia to soak in the spring itself, the Parco ticket is not enough.
How booking, changes and support work
Tickets are bought on the Day Spa booking website, with "from" prices that vary by day and season. Changes are allowed up to 24 hours before; after that, or if you don't turn up, the ticket counts as used.
Customer support is direct and easy to reach, which is not a given: the Parco Termale on +39 0564 600600, also on WhatsApp, and the Club on +39 0564 600823. Parking on site is free. Residents of the municipality of Manciano and the province of Grosseto get dedicated rates.
Opening hours: from April to October the Parco opens from 09:30 to 19:00; from November to March it closes at 17:00. The Club opens from 09:30 to 19:00.
Before you go
- Jewellery: take it off, especially silver, which the sulphurous water turns black.
- Swimwear: the smell of sulphur lingers in fabric for a while, so don't wear your best costume.
- Pregnancy: bathing is allowed up to the twentieth week, for a maximum of 20 minutes.
- Timing: arrive at opening time on a weekday if you want to find free sunbeds; on summer weekends the Parco fills up early.
What customers say
At our last check the Terme di Saturnia had about 2,700 reviews on Tripadvisor, with mixed opinions. Almost everyone agrees about the water: hot, plentiful, with its unmistakable sulphurous smell. The recurring criticisms concern the dated changing rooms and the crowds on peak days. These complaints are consistent with a large, very busy facility: if you can, pick a weekday outside the summer.
The Cascate del Mulino, the free Saturnia hot springs
About 2 km from the spring, the water flows down the Gorello stream and forms the Cascate del Mulino: free, open day and night, with no ticket. The Comune di Manciano gives a temperature of about 37 °C. Near the falls there is a large free, unattended car park and a municipal area paid by the hour; campervans have a separate equipped area about 800 metres away. There are no official bathing rules and no official changing rooms: bring water shoes, because the travertine is slippery and sharp, and keep your head out of the water.
The Cascate are perfect if you are on a tight budget or want the classic photos at dawn. The Terme make sense if you want facilities, a sunbed and a hassle-free day.
Getting there and booking through platforms
From Florence it takes about 3 hours by car; from Rome about 2 and a half hours. Without a car, the official website suggests the train to Grosseto or Orbetello, then an Autolinee Toscane bus or a taxi: services are few and run mainly on weekdays.
For entry to the Parco, a platform won't save you money: at our last check GetYourGuide was selling the day ticket from €30, the same as the official website, with 4.3 stars from 99 reviews. It makes sense if you prefer to manage everything from a single app. For anyone leaving from Florence without a car, on the other hand, the GetYourGuide organised trip, about 7 hours, solves the transport problem but starts from €250 per person. Who the Terme are for
The Terme di Saturnia suit visitors who arrive by car and want a managed thermal day: families at the Parco, couples and adults at the Club. They are not ideal if you want privacy on summer weekends, if you are travelling without a car, or if all you want is the warm water: in that case the Cascate have the same effect at no cost.
